4FD Platform

The 4FD platform is in its basic form composed of a database and an application layer, it can serve smaller and medium applications at the application level even in a single-server environment.

However, a multi-server solution where the application servers are specialized is suitable for systems that are demanding in processing power. In this architecture, there may be a separate server for user environment rendering, BI previews, integration server and print servers.

This architecture will optimize the number of licenses needed. From a user perspective, the system emphasizes ergonomics so that the system is accessible to a wide range of users without major training costs. It also provides a high degree of openness and freedom in the decisions related to the selection of the relevant suppliers.

Multiplatform

The 4FD platform can run on most modern HW platforms and operating systems such as Linux, MS Windows, or Mac OS. This software must run on the server side: Java, Tomcat and PostgreSQL database, or Oracle 12c and higher. The client application then runs well in all commonly used web browsers of the user’s choice.

Effective

The 4FD platform comes with support for the concept of “low coding”. This is the concept of reducing the amount of traditional development activities by writing low-level source code. It provides support and the ability to build applications in a configurable manner or by composing prebuilt components into target applications. The system supports modern application development concepts using frontend development concepts based on HTML5, CSS and Javascript.

Customizability

The 4FD platform is built on an infrastructure of technological templates, which the system processes in a so-called template processor. The system processes the template together with the relevant data content and provides the result for display in the user interface. The templates can be combined, linked and inserted at different levels of detail in an appropriate way. Standard HTML/JavaScript code can be inserted into templates to modify template behavior and assign specific properties. The 4FD platform provides a number of pre-made templates at all levels of use.

Modularity

The 4FD platform allows you to build and run a new application even with ready-made modules. Once developed, a module can be reused. We offer ready-made modules for extended event logging on the platform, IDM integration, print module and others.

Security

The 4FD platform provides extensive support for security concepts at the core system level. It allows you to manage both authentication and authorization mechanisms in a configurable manner. It allows authentication and authorization information to be retrieved from external identity systems using the standard LDAP/Kerberos protocol.

Integrability

The 4FD platform provides standard connectivity to selected systems such as AD, POP3, SMTP protocols. Within the support of HTTP/HTTPS protocol specialization of REST, SOAP and all this of course with commonly used security concepts (OAUTH, basic). For easier integration, the system provides several standard APIs that allow the connection of external systems. Among the primary APIs provided are primarily interfaces used to work with database model and for working with real data. Another important interface provides functionalities related to automated control processes in the application.

Affordability

The 4FD platform is licensed on a per-user basis. It is therefore possible to create and run a low-cost application even for a small number of users. A larger application with a larger number of users can also be profitable through a framework agreement. The cost of running an application on the 4FD platform can also be reduced by using modern cloud systems and by advanced virtualization and containerization of the entire environment.

>Data model editor

In the Metamodel editor it is possible to define new entities for the data model of our new application. We start by defining fields, to which we can attach security and access rights.
Next, we will lay out the new fields into templates and views that will then display our data. Finally, we can see the new entity and its connection to other entities in the diagram view.
The newly created data model can be exported, as well as other objects, as a JSON file and then can be imported in another environment.

>Lifecycle editor

Lifecycle functionality is a powerful tool in the design and automation of our new application on the 4FD platform. It allows us to easily and quickly provide routing and information exchange between users involved in the process. Each user can then contribute their part to the entire lifecycle of the record being processed. Users can also have a discussion about the record and write down their notes.

>Templates GUI editor

The 4FD platform offers an internal template editor that allows us to precisely define the look and feel of each part of our application. Using simple tags, it is possible to quickly and easily assemble a new form and ensure that our data is displayed in the required fields. In the template editor we can see a preview of how the form will look like in the result. Once we are happy with the form, we can transfer it as an xml file to another environment.

>Application settings

The entire application based on the 4FD platform is widely configurable in many aspects and parameters. The items in the Settings menu are different for a normal user and for a system administrator. The normal user can set those parameters that are relevant to his person and his workspace. The application administrator or system administrator can set a number of application parameters, including, for example, integration connections to remote interfaces, or settings for e-mail communication, notification of other users, how users are authenticated and how they are connected to external identity management systems.
